York Eye Associates proudly welcomes our newest associate Dr. Chris Deaton. He is a Therapeutic Doctor of Optometry and a Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Deaton specializes in primary eye care, binocular vision, Contact Lenses, surgical co-management, and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular health conditions such as red eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, and many more. Dr. Deaton strives to maintain both the patient’s ocular health as well as their overall health by co-managing with general practitioners and other specialists.
Dr. Chris Deaton graduated with honors from Texas Tech University in 2003 with a Bachelors in Science degree. Prior to becoming an optometrist, Dr. Deaton was a teacher. He taught High School biology, chemistry, and physics as well as being an adjunct professor at San Jacinto College where he taught Mathematics. He taught for nearly 10 years before deciding to become an optometrist. Dr. Deaton graduated with honors from the University of Houston Optometry School in 2016. While at U of H, he received the Practice Management Award of Excellence and was trained in glaucoma surgical procedures.
Dr. Deaton is a member of the Texas Optometric Association as well as the American Optometric Association. He enjoys using his background as a teacher and applying it in the exam room. Dr. Deaton takes time with his patients and will answer any questions they have.
Dr. Deaton loves spending time with his three kids, Natalie, Brandon, and John. He is an outdoorsman who likes to camp, hike, and hangout by the fire.
