According to Dr. York, one recent advancement for the practice is in the area of dry eyes. With the addition of the MiBoThermoflo instrument, York Eye Associates can now offer more comprehensive care to patients who suffer from chronic dry eyes due to meibomian gland dysfunction, a fairly common issue for men and women.
Dr. York, who has chronic dry eye, said "after even one treatment you can tell a difference."
"It is a chronic condition so it will come back, but with the MiBo Thermoflo instrument we hope to offer a yearly in-house treatment to maintain symptom-free dry eyes."
The office has a progressive three step approach before in house treatment of chronic dry eye that begins with a home regimen.
"This treatment can be life changing," Dr. York said.
Other services offered by the office include OPTOMAP retinal imaging and Cirrus Ocular Coherence Technology (OCT), which provides the earliest diagnostic data for glaucoma and many retinal/macular pathologies.
A comprehensive eye exam, including a thorough retinal exam, can detect early signs of numerous diseases that affect not only your eyes and your sight, but also your overall health. The Optomap Retinal Exam uses the latest scanning laser technology to help our doctors identify abnormalities that could indicate the onset of a number of diseases that often present first in the retina. The Cirrus OCT provides comprehensive glaucoma and retinal imaging and analysis, and provides in vivo, cross-sectional images and quantitative analysis of retinal features to optimize the diagnosis and monitoring of retinal disease and is used for enhanced pre- and post-therapy assessment.
